SSA Napier is part of the SSA NZL group. SSA is a national provider of specialist stevedoring services which handles every type of cargo, with a proven commitment to customer service, employee relations and providing a safe and healthy workplace.

The role of the stevedore is to assist with the loading and unloading of vessels, ensuring cargo is loaded and discharged efficiently and safely. This involves working as part of a team either on the wharf or on the vessel. You will be required to follow instructions about how to work in and around cargoes.

Experience in Stevedoring or Port Operations is desirable, however, we will consider people who have a good work record, a commitment to safe working practices, a willingness to learn, and have a great attitude towards work.

Essential requirements for the position are:

• A current full driver's license
• A good level of literacy
• A good level of physical fitness
• The ability to work at heights

As a 24/7 business, we require all stevedores to work shifts and to be able to work weekends as well.

To be considered for this opportunity you will need to pass a pre-employment drug & alcohol test.

You also need to be aware all casuals are required to adhere to our Drug & Alcohol Policy that does include random testing. You will be required to work at heights while employed as a Stevedore.
