About the role

We are seeking a Land Drainage Engineer to join the 3 Waters Unit within our Utilities and Roading Department. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and skilled engineer with expertise in environmental and water engineering to join a progressive and customer-focused council.

The successful applicant will have overall ownership of the operation of our rural drainage and stockwater systems, including maintenance contracts, management of service requests, compliance with consents, as well as responding to natural events. You will be a key part of the Water Operations team responsible for ensuring the Council's rural drainage and stockwater systems are operated and maintained to a high standard and ensuring that drainage services are delivered in a safe and efficient manner. This is a great opportunity to work closely with the public, Council, consultants, and contractors to deliver outstanding results for both the community and the environment.

Our ideal candidate will have experience with drainage systems and a passion for the environment. You will have strong engineering and communications skills and be good at developing relationships with internal staff and contractors. We are looking for someone who has a passion for drain and waterway management and respect for environmental and cultural values.

We offer a competitive salary package designed to attract the right person to join our team, great working conditions and a very supportive and friendly team environment where you really can make a difference. This role will suit a qualified engineer, preferably with a degree, with technical expertise in Water or Environmental Engineering. The Council is a Professional Development Partner with Engineering New Zealand and is an equal opportunity employer.
