Waimakariri District is one of the fastest growing Districts in New Zealand and the fourth largest, by population, in the South Island. This brings with it abundant challenges across a diverse range of areas. The Council is seeking a Procurement Specialist within the Finance department, based in Rangiora, North Canterbury, to provide high quality procurement advice and support to Council staff to ensure compliance with policies and procedures across the organisation.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and skilled expert in procurement to join a progressive and customer-focused Council. This is a permanent full-time position with the responsibility of providing advice to the whole of Council.

The Procurement Specialist is a senior level role within the Finance Department. You will be responsible for maintaining Council's procurement processes and systems, including working collaboratively across the Council to make improvements and provide procurement advice. You will work with our business units and our external suppliers and partners to help plan, source and manage the services, goods and works that are required to deliver assets and services. This is a great opportunity to take ownership of Council processes, and work closely with Council staff, consultants, and contractors to deliver outstanding results.

This role will suit a qualified procurement professional, with a minimum of 5 years' experience dealing with contracts and procurement. You will have a tertiary degree (e.g., BCom, BEng or LLB), or equivalent qualification in a business-related discipline. Strong organisation and oral communication skills are essential for this varied and challenging position.

The rewards for this position include a competitive salary package designed to attract the right person to join our team, great working conditions and a very supportive and friendly team environment where you really can make a difference.
