Mō tēnei tūranga mahi| About this role

The Facilities Support Officer plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of Council facilities and assets. Reporting to the Facilities Lead, this role involves the coordination of both planned and reactive maintenance, customer request management, and day-to-day scheduling of facility-related tasks. You will liaise with internal and external stakeholders to communicate project updates and ensure timely service delivery. In this position, you'll handle contractor management, make autonomous decisions on maintenance tasks, and maintain a task management system to optimise resource allocation.

Key responsibilities include managing the Council's vehicle fleet to ensure safety and efficient use, assisting in budget preparation and procurement, and supporting Health and Safety (H&S) and Risk Management reviews. The role also requires the delivery of minor projects and building maintenance. As a Facilities Support Officer, you will bring customer-centred thinking, work collaboratively across Council, and continuously seek ways to improve processes while upholding Council values.

The preferred candidate will have:

  • Relevant Qualifications and Experience: A recognised qualification at the Diploma level or NCEA Level 2/3 and experience coordinating facility management activities in complex or multi-purpose environments. You will need a full NZ Driver's Licence.
  • Facilities Management and Coordination Skills: Demonstrated experience in managing facility maintenance schedules, coordinating contractor services, and responding to both planned and reactive work requests. A solid understanding of contractor management, as well as health and safety compliance in facility operations, is essential.
  • Customer Focus and Organisational Abilities: A customer-centric approach with excellent communication skills to engage with stakeholders and internal teams effectively. You'll bring strong organisational abilities, enabling you to prioritise tasks, manage workflows, and contribute to budget preparation and procurement processes.

Utu ā-tau | Salary

The salary for this position will commence between $$65,701 and $69,566 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
