With a solid background in trade or B2B sales, you thrive on expanding your client base, expertly balancing client needs with design and product solutions.

Bilingual skills (Mandarin preferred) are a plus. You'll also need to be fluent in English and either a valid NZ working visa holder, permanent resident, or citizen—this is a long-term role for someone looking to grow with us.

ABOUT LIGHTING DIRECT:

Lighting Direct is New Zealand's most iconic lighting specialist, family-owned since 1974 with 22 branches nationwide and over 800 years of combined experience among our team.

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

• Client Relationship Building: Develop and nurture long-term relationships with trade clients, including electricians, designers, and property developers, ensuring repeat business and satisfaction.

• Sales and Product Expertise: As a lighting specialist, advising clients on the best lighting solutions for their projects, from individual fittings to entire design solutions, always considering functionality and aesthetics.

• Drive Business Growth: Proactively seek and engage new trade clients through weekly calls, daily CRM updates, and strategic prospecting, while maintaining strong relationships with existing clients to foster long-term partnerships. Design and Technology Application: Utilize CAD and or Dialux software to create and present lighting designs that meet client specifications and expectations.

• Operational and Administrative Support: Manage sales processes, including quotes, orders, and follow-ups, ensuring efficient and accurate documentation and communication.

• Product and Market Knowledge: Stay updated on the latest lighting trends, technologies, and our evolving product range to maintain a competitive edge in the market.

• Customer Focus: Prioritizes client satisfaction.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• A background in interior design, architecture, or related fields is advantageous but not essential.

• Training or certification in CAD and Dialux software use is preferred but can be learned on the job if you bring a willingness to grow and adapt.

• Sales Experience: Proven experience in sales, preferably in a trade or B2B environment, with a track record of meeting or exceeding targets.

• Lighting or Design Industry Knowledge: Experience in the lighting, interior design, or construction industries is highly valued but not mandatory, as we provide comprehensive training.

• Client Relationship Management: Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and delivering tailored solutions.

• Project Coordination Skills: Experience managing multiple projects or client needs simultaneously, ensuring that timelines and client expectations are met.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working

• This position will require travel

• Ability to move and handle lighting products as needed.
