Selwyn District Council has an exciting opportunity for 2 x Project Manager to join our Capital Works Team with a strong and considerable focus on delivering complex infrastructure particularly in
- Waters construction (particularly water, wastewater, pump stations, treatment plants) and or
- Transportation (road construction, pavement renewals, intersection upgrades, services). or
- Open spaces & facilities (Council reserves, buildings - libraries, community center's and land development projects)
A background in infrastructure project management is essential. As part of the Capital Works Team, you will be a team player and bring your project, programme, commercial and financial management, implementation, coordination and experience, knowledge, and skills to support the wider Infrastructure and Property group. Selwyn is growing and developing at a rapid pace; therefore, we need skilled people to make it happen.
About the role
As a member of the Capital Works Team the Project Manager will responsible and accountable to:
- Provide visible, values-based leadership, holding a future focus on the needs of the district and ensuring that the team continuously improves to meet changing requirements.
- Use project management methodologies and multistakeholder management to deliver projects with a strong commitment to Health & Safety.
- Ensure timely project delivery is achieved in line with Council priorities, to the budgets allocated, encompass sustainability, lead projects through to completion and use by the public. This will ensure that we are delivering infrastructure/service delivery outcomes that meet our community, mana whenua, stakeholder, and operational expectations.
- Ensure practical completion inspections are undertaken and defects corrected or remedied over the defects and maintenance periods.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Extensive experience (5+ years) project management experience focussing on five waters or transport, or commercial reserves & facilities build or civil construction projects and.
- Demonstrable project, programme, commercial, financial, quality, tendering and contract management experience in the delivery of large and small projects effectively and efficiently.
- Understand the various forms of contracts NZS 3910 - 3917 and ACENZ,
- High level of digital literacy, including Word, Excel, Microsoft project or other project management software/tools.
- Tertiary Qualification in relevant disciplines of Engineering, Construction, Environmental Management and Health & Safety.
You will be an effective self-starter but a team player, who is focused on providing solutions and outcomes that are in line with best practice. You will understand what it takes to bring people together to achieve results and be able to communicate and build strong relationships with multiple stakeholders (both internally and externally), so they feel well-informed and have a high level of trust.
