Stepping Stone Trust (SST) is a faith-based organisation and one of the largest mental health services in New Zealand with a strong presence in both Christchurch and Dunedin. We are dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of others and ensuring those with mental health conditions live their best lives.

We are seeking an exceptional and dedicated Housekeeper who is eager to make this role their own and positively impact the lives of our tāngata. Strong cooking skills for up to 12 people are essential, along with a solid understanding of food safety and hygiene standards.

The following shift is available:

  • Week 1: Monday - Friday (08:00 - 16:30)
  • Week 2: Monday - Friday (08:00 - 16:30)

Mō Te Tūnga I About The role

In this role you will:

  • Carry out general housekeeping duties and ensure an excellent level of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the home, including kitchen, bathroom, and laundry daily.
  • Cook nutritious evening meals for 10-12 people, as well as prepare lunch alongside other staff.
  • Maintain food budgets within guidelines set out by the Service Manager.
  • Manage pre-determined menus with input from tāngata.
  • Be able to order groceries, monitor and keep stores stocked, including a 3-day emergency food rotation.
  • Maintain kitchens at each site, including appliance servicing or replacement, fridge temperatures, food safety items, PPE etc. Prior knowledge of infection control and health and safety precautions is desirable.
  • Enable tāngata to have a great stay in terms of comfort, cleanliness, and nutrition.
  • Work alongside tāngata to maintain shared areas and their bedrooms.
  • Maintain a healthy living environment.
  • Work closely with and support your colleagues on the team to provide a warm kind and caring environment.

You will have the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and tangata, and must possess:

  • A caring and compassionate nature.
  • A willingness to commit to and support the bicultural journey that Stepping Stone Trust is on as we live out our partnership under Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles.
  • A good understanding of infection control.
  • A level of computer literacy where you are confident using computing and cloud-based systems.
  • Strong organisation skills and good verbal and written communication skills.
  • An ability to multitask effectively and manage your daily workload.
  • A full relevant car licence.
