CCS Disability Action is the largest pan-disability support and advocacy organisation in New Zealand. We have been working with disabled people / whānau hauā and their families since 1935 and are at the forefront of service provision, advocacy and information sharing New Zealand-wide.

This role offers you an exciting opportunity to become involved in organisation making a difference in the community. The Speech and Language Therapist is responsible for supporting children from two years through to school entry, who have high communication and eating/drinking support needs.

About the Role:

  • Supporting children with high and complex communication and eating, drinking and swallowing support needs
  • Community based - supporting whānau/families in their homes and children in their Early Learning Services
  • Work as part of a team alongside an Early Intervention Teacher as well as other Specialists from other community based organisations
  • Work in partnership with whānau/families and early childhood teachers in developing and implementing Speech-Language Therapy ‘programmes' for each child
  • Contribute to Individual Plan and ORS applications

About you:

  • A recognised qualification in Speech-Language Therapy
  • Eligibility for membership of NZSTA
  • Undergraduate paediatric dysphagia training and post qualification experience
  • Experience working with preschool children in an interdisciplinary team environment.
  • Experience with the implementation of Augmentative/Alternative Communication Systems.
  • An ability to establish effective relationships with families / whanau, early childhood facilities and other agencies.
  • We offer a supportive and flexible work environment including regular professional supervision.
