Youth Mobile Clinical Worker

We have an exciting opportunity within our Youth Mobile team, where we provide a high-contact, short-term, intensive community service for young people, aged 14-25, who are experiencing high stress in regard to their mental wellbeing and health. In this role you will work in partnership, and alongside, specialist Mental Health Services and clinical case managers.

We have one permanent full-time vacancy with working hours negotiated between the hours and days of Monday - Friday, 10.00am - 6.30pm to accommodate rangatahi and whānau.

Mō Te Tūranga | About The role

Within this role you will be working towards client recovery, be engaging regularly with rangatahi for the purpose of monitoring their mental health, resolving periods of high stress, and helping them work towards their goals. The purpose of the Youth Mobile service is to assist young people to function within the community.

As part of the Youth Mobile team, you will be:

  • Working closely with specialist mental health services in monitoring the mental health of our tāngata and giving feedback to the appointed clinicians.
  • Regularly contacting and connecting with rangatahi, with visits a minimum of twice weekly and a maximum of daily.
  • Assisting clients and their whānau to manage crises.
  • Utilising frameworks that concentrate on goal focussed and strengths based approach.
  • Assisting in the delivery of a service that honours Te Tiriti O Waitangi.
  • Developing professional relationships with other service providers such as case managers, psychiatrists, GPs, WINZ, school representatives etc.
  • Working closely with colleagues to maintain an organisational and team culture of empathy and professionalism.
  • Using your existing community knowledge and networks to connect rangatahi and whānau with the appropriate supports.
  • Ensuring paperwork and files are comprehensive and current and accurately reflect the tāngata we support.

u | About you

You will:

  • Have a relevant formal tertiary qualification in Social Work, Counselling or Allied Health equivalent.
  • Experience in the mental health, health and/or addictions sectors.
  • Have Full Registration with a Professional Body within their field.
  • A willingness to commit to and support the bicultural journey that Stepping Stone Trust is on as we live out our partnership under Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles.
  • Have confidence in working alongside rangatahi.
  • Strong organisational skills for managing your workload alongside good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possess an engaging communication style and have the ability to relate and connect with rangatahi via several platforms e.g. online, individual and/or in groups.
  • Have a strong (intermediate) level of computer literacy.
  • Have some experience in managing teams and facilitating groups of rangatahi.
  • Have a full, clean driver's license.
