Resource Consents Team Leader | Kaiàrahi Whakàetanga Pūmanawa

Join our dedicated and collaborative Resource Consents team as a Team Leader.

In this role, you'll lead a skilled group of professionals, ensuring the efficient and effective processing of resource consent applications while fostering positive relationships with mana whenua, stakeholders, and the wider community.

Mō te tūranga | About the role

  • Lead and mentor the Resource Consents team, promoting collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee the processing of resource consent applications in line with the Resource Management Act 1991 (RMA) and Councils District Plan.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with mana whenua, recognising and incorporating Te Ao Māori perspectives in decision-making.
  • Provide expert advice to internal and external stakeholders, including elected officials, community members, and developers.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory timeframes, delivering high-quality outcomes.
  • Drive initiatives to improve processes and enhance service delivery.

To succeed in this role you should possess the following:

  • Proven experience in resource management, planning, or a related field.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent understanding of the RMA and local government processes.
  • Commitment to incorporating Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and Te Ao Māori into your work.
  • Exceptional communication / negotiating and relationship-building abilities.
  • A Bachelor's Degree or Level 7 Diploma in related field & Member of the NZPI or qualify for membership (desired)
