Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role
As the Archivist & Research Collections Coordinator, you will play a critical role in preserving and sharing the rich history and heritage of the Whakatāne District. You will oversee the management of the Whakatāne District Council Archives, the Museum's Manuscript collection, and various research materials. This involves appraising and curating valuable records to ensure they are preserved for future generations while being easily accessible to the community.
Your expertise will contribute to digital transformation initiatives, focusing on digitisation, digital preservation, and online access to archival materials. Collaboration is key, as you'll work closely with other museum staff, stakeholders, and community groups to foster engagement with the region's heritage.

- A degree or relevant qualification in library science, archival studies, history, information management, or a related field.
- Expertise in managing archival or manuscript collections, with a focus on digital storage and preservation.
- Skills in implementing digital storage solutions, digitisation practices, and using collection management software.
- Experience leading projects that enhance digital accessibility or community engagement through archives.
- Strong organisational and record-keeping skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for engaging with diverse stakeholders.
- Collaborative team player with a positive and respectful attitude.
- Innovative and adaptable, with a forward-thinking approach to emerging technologies.
- Passionate about community heritage, demonstrating care for accessibility and inclusivity.
