About the role:
As a Development Engineering Officer, you will leverage your expertise to assist positive development outcomes for the Tasman region. This includes providing recommendations/signoff for a number of activities, in compliance with Engineering standards and the RMA, and also assisting with long term development outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Assess incoming consents against the engineering requirements in the Tasman Resource Management Plan and engineering standards.
- Engage with Developers and their Engineers to provide feedback, advice and direction.
- Ensure all aspects of development-related infrastructure meet Council requirements and New Zealand Engineering Standards - includes carrying out site inspections and reviewing designs.
- Work with and assist other Council teams including Community Infrastructure, Building Consents, Natural Hazards, Environmental, Parks and Reserves, and Policy.
- Work with stakeholders, iwi and the community.
To be successful in this role you will:
- Have a Degree in Engineering or Level 6 Diploma in Engineering or equivalent.
- Have experience working with Local Government and applying the associated legislation.
- Be able to think logically, analytically, practically and laterally.
- Be a great communicator with a wide spectrum of people.
- Have a competent level of computer skills encompassing Microsoft Office products, geographic information systems, and ability and willingness to learn new/enhanced applications.
- Hold a current and valid NZ driver's licence.
