About the role
Are you an RMA Planner eager to make a real impact in the scenic Whangārei District? Join our dynamic and motivated team at Whangārei District Council! We have a fantastic opportunity for a Resource Consents Planner to become part of our busy team. Whether you have a few years under your belt or extensive experience and are ready to tackle complex applications, we want to hear from you.
Key responsibilities
- Provide planning advice to the public, consultants, and staff,
- Play an integral role in shaping the plan making process alongside the district plan team,
- Efficiently process resource consent applications within statutory timeframes,
- Lead and manage projects and facilitation pre-lodgment meetings,
- Act as a witness on appeals and mediation, (for Senior Planner only),
- Write and review notification reports,
- Administer and implement the District Plan and respond to enquiries and correspondence relating to complex development proposals,
- Provide input into process improvement,
- Contribute to our Duty Planner roster by providing expert planning advice and support.
About you
Your experience level will determine the specific skills you bring, but we are looking for a planner who is passionate about their work and thrives on challenges and variety. You'll be a team player, striving for growth and opportunities while living in our beautiful district. Additional experience may include:
- A recognized qualification in Resource Management Planning,
- Membership or eligibility for membership in the NZ Planning Institute,
- Confidence to make hard, but well-informed decisions,
- Experience with peer reviewing and the ability to provide valuable feedback,
- An understanding of the Resource Management Act 1991 and related legislation,
- Strong communication and analytical skills,
- Evidence of stakeholder management,
- Experience with preparing for hearings with exposure to mediation and conflict resolution of RMA related matters.
