Network Access Lead - Transportation

About the role:

As a member of the Transportation Team the Network Access Lead - Transportation is key to keeping the Selwyn District moving and developing.

Reporting to our Transportation Delivery Manager in our Operational Delivery Team you will manage the Corridor Management Team and all third-party access activities within the district's road corridor network. We aim to minimise the inconvenience and disruption of any activity on road-users and stakeholders within the Selwyn District whilst efficiently supporting the development of our roading networks.

Our road assets are vital to the success of our district and we want you to ensure they are protected, managing all Service Plans, Corridor Access Requests, Temporary Traffic Management Plans, Works Access Permits, Warranties and other activities requested by Contractors and other bodies wishing to undertake activities on our network corridor in an organised, structured and safe manner but at all times, minimising the disruptions on users.

About you:

You may have experience developing TMP's but are you good at Jigsaws! Can you balance a network, keep traffic moving, work with several stakeholders and lead the team? If you can, then we want to hear from you.

This role would suit someone who not only has strong technical capabilities in corridor management but more, someone with a positive outlook to challenges, who isn't dauted by solving problems, has proven and demonstratable leadership experience and the ability to be credible within multiple stakeholders and the public alike. Someone who likes challenges, problem solving and who isn't afraid to answer the hard questions.

The successful applicant should tick most, if not all, of the following:

  • 5-10 years relevant industry experience or technical field support experience, preferably in a compliance/engineering environment.
  • Previous experience with Network and journey management, access control, the CAR process, and the use of RAMM.
  • Demonstratable understanding of National Code of Practice for Utility Operators' Access to Transport Corridors and its requirements.
  • Experience managing technical and professional staff, supporting coaching and development.
  • Ability to make rational judgements from the available information and analysis; Produces workable solutions to a range of problems.
  • Strong negotiation skills from within working environments.
