Aquaheat New Zealand Limited (Aquaheat) is owned and operated with deep roots throughout the New Zealand business community dating back to the 1950's.

As the largest HVAC Mechanical company in New Zealand, Aquaheat specialise in the supply, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of HVAC Mechanical services with our clients made up from a broad range of sectors including public health, government departments, education facilities, as well as many of New Zealand's leading blue-chip corporations, large commercial organisations, and pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities.

Due to winning several medium to large projects in the Dunedin region we are looking to employ a Project Manager based in Dunedin. This role will report into South Island Operations Manager and also work closely with the South Island Regional General Manager who are both based in Christchurch.

We are wanting to establish a branch in Dunedin as part of our South Island strategy to compliment our Christchurch, Queenstown and Invercargill business units. For the right person this role has the opportunity to grow into a long-term management position as we develop our presence in the Otago region.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Overall responsibility and control of the day to day management of HVAC Mechanical projects including supervision of direct staff and subcontractors to ensure quality, safety and programme requirements are met
  • The goal is to ensure all projects are planned, executed, and delivered in accordance with the agreed methodology, project timelines and within the agreed budget
  • This includes acquiring materials, subcontractors and coordinating the efforts of our direct staff and manufacturing workshop for ductwork
  • Engage subcontractors in accordance with specific contract requirements and company operating procedures
  • Act as the first point of contact with the client and/ or main contractor.
  • Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure applicable processes are utilised for construction and installation.
  • Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative and productive relationships with the client and/ or main contractor.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections on all aspects of the work
  • Keeping records of quality documents, non-conformance reports, changes to working drawings and as-installed details.

To be successful a candidate will require the following qualifications and experience:

  • Relevant professional or technical tertiary qualifications.
  • HAVC Mechanical background with an understanding of design and/or estimating skills.
  • Relevant construction industry experience with at least 5 years of experience and proven track record in project management roles in the HVAC Mechanical trade
  • Proven experience in managing an HVAC Mechanical installation team within a construction environment with a passion for delivering high quality customer satisfaction at all times.
  • Experience of managing both self-delivery site staff (pipe fitters and duct erectors) and specialist subcontractors
  • Knowledge of building and service regulations and statutory obligations.
  • Ability to schedule work, provide technical expertise and support specialist subcontractors and staff where required to resolve issues that arise in a busy HVAC Mechanical installation operation.
  • A passion for maintaining a safe working environment.
  • MS Outlook, Excel and Word, MS Project
  • Current NZ Drivers Licence
