Wairoa District Council is looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Building Compliance Officer to join our team. This permanent, full-time role plays a vital part in ensuring that buildings in our district meet the highest standards of safety and compliance.

As a Building Consent Authority, the Council is responsible for upholding the Building Act and Building Code, and we are seeking someone who is passionate about maintaining these standards while providing excellent service to our community.

What you'll bring to the role:

  • NZ Diploma in Building Control Surveying (Small, Medium, or Large Buildings) or a commitment to working towards this qualification.
  • Previous experience in the building industry is highly desirable.
  • Ability to assess, develop, and refine processes to ensure compliance with the Building Act and Building Code.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, with the ability to present complex information in a clear and understandable way.
  • A system-oriented mindset with advanced computer skills.
