Ready to make a real impact in a transformational programme? Join us at Whakatāne District Council as a Business Analyst supporting the successful delivery of our new ERP system! This is an eighteen-month, fixed term position.

The system we use to manage our core business processes has reached end-of-life and needs to be replaced. We've identified the new system solution (an enterprise resource planning or ‘ERP' system) and have planned our approach to implementing it. It will be a large and complex programme of work as it will impact our people, processes and ways of working. This is an exciting opportunity to join a fantastic team leading transformational change across the organisation.

We're on the lookout for a proactive and skilled Business Analyst to drive the implementation of a new ERP solution. Reporting to the Lead Business Analyst, you will work closely with business owners, software vendors, and cross-functional teams to capture requirements, support solution design, and ensure the system meets the needs of our organisation. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to meaningful change while building strong stakeholder relationships and supporting a smooth transition for our teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Translate business needs into clear, complete, and aligned functional specifications.
- Collaborate with developers and solution architects on ERP configuration and design.
- Support data migration activities.
- Coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT) and system integration testing (SIT).
- Support business validation post-implementation and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Coordinate and participate in solution configuration design workshops facilitated by the vendor/supplier
- Build trusted relationships across the organisation and support change management efforts.
Ko wai koe | About you
You're a confident and collaborative Business Analyst who thrives in dynamic environments. You bring:
- A degree or diploma in business administration, computer science, finance, or information systems.
- 3-5 years' BA experience on large-scale digital projects
- Local government or public sector experience is preferred.
- Strong skills in business and technical requirements analysis, modelling, and methodology development.
- Familiarity with ERP systems, SQL, and PROMAPP.
- Great relationship-building skills, a proactive mindset, and a focus on accuracy and continuous improvement.
- Knowledge of project management methodologies such as PRINCE2 or Agile is a plus.
- A strong customer service mindset and experience working collaboratively in a team environment.
