We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Cemetery and Community Assets Officer to join our Community Assets team at the Manawatū District Council. This important role delivers high-quality cemetery management services and ensures smooth administrative support for the team and to our community.
In this diverse role, you will:
- Deliver cemetery management services for Council-owned cemeteries, including processing applications, maintaining accurate records, managing contracts, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
- Act as a key point of contact for internal and external Community Assets enquiries.
- Provide professional, solutions-focused customer service with a high level of accuracy and efficiency.
- Support the Community Assets team through a range of administrative and financial processing tasks.
- Manage internal infrastructure needs within the Council Administration Building, such as maintenance requests, consumables procurement, and security coordination.
We are looking for someone who has:
- Local Government experience.
- Minimum 5 years of office administration experience.
- Minimum 2 years cemeteries experience.
- Strong understanding of relevant legislation and the ability to interpret and apply it.
- Excellent research, analysis, and reporting skills — even when information is complex or incomplete.
- A solutions-focused approach and strong customer service skills.
- A current, full driver's licence.

The salary range for this role is $62k - $84k (mid-point $73k) with 5 weeks' annual leave.
