As part of recent changes to our team structure, we're excited to offer a new opportunity for an experienced HR professional to join our People and Culture team.
Reporting to the Manager - People and Culture, you will partner with people leaders across Council to provide expert advice, coaching and hands-on support on all people-related matters. This includes employee relations, recruitment, leadership development, change management and the implementation of strategic HR initiatives. You'll be instrumental in building capability, driving best practice, and contributing to organisational development aligned with Council's long-term objectives.
What you'll do:
- Provide trusted, professional advice and support to leaders on employment relations, performance management, recruitment, remuneration, and compliance.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate effective and strategic workforce solutions.
- Coach and empower people leaders to manage their teams with confidence and consistency.
- Support resolution of employee relations issues, and ensure adherence to employment law and good faith principles.
- Drive and deliver HR projects, support workforce planning, and oversee position management within your portfolio.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of policies, strategies, and change initiatives.
What you'll bring:
- Tertiary qualification in Human Resources or a related field, or extensive relevant experience.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a generalist HR role.
- In-depth understanding of New Zealand employment legislation and HR best practice.
- Demonstrated ability to coach leaders, resolve employment issues and lead change.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- A collaborative, proactive and resilient approach to problem solving.
