Are you passionate about people, place, and process? Do you have the mana to lead with integrity and the energy to create meaningful customer experiences? We're looking for a dynamic, forward-thinking Democracy and Customer Experience Manager to lead a vital team at the heart of local government.
Mō te tūranga | About the role
At Hauraki District Council, we're not just about roads and rubbish (although we do those too)—we're about creating a connected community where voices are heard and services exceed expectations. As our new Manager, you'll be the strategic driver behind both our democratic processes and the way we engage with our community every day.
- Lead with purpose: Inspire and grow a high-performing team, fostering excellence in customer service and governance.
- Strategise and steer: Help shape the direction of council communications, customer service, and democratic support with clarity and confidence.
- Deliver meaningful engagement: Manage customer touchpoints—from front desk to media channels—and ensure every interaction counts.
- Be a guardian of process: Oversee Council's democratic and secretarial services, ensuring compliance, transparency and effectiveness.
- Champion continuous improvement: Seek opportunities for innovation, development and cultural competency every step of the way.
Tō Kōrero | About You
- A Bachelor's Degree in a related field and over 10 years' experience in relevant roles.
- Proven leadership skills, with the ability to coach, influence and motivate diverse teams.
- A solid grasp of Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and an understanding of te ao Māori.
- A Full NZ Drivers Licence (because the journey doesn't stop at your desk).
- A sharp mind, a collaborative spirit, and a great sense of humour!
