About the role

The Capital Works Project Manager forms part of a team of seven who are responsible for delivering investigation, design and construction of road safety, capacity, resilience, and active-modes improvements. Reporting to the Capital Works Lead, you will work with the team to provide professional engineering service, managing capital projects to completion to achieve high levels of customer and technical service.

The key portfolio for this role is to Lead the development of strategies, business cases and proposals focused on improving transport outcomes. Project manage design and construction of transport infrastructure projects.

About you

We are looking for a pragmatic individual who guides outcomes through influence and good communication. You will have sound experience in managing roading related projects from start through to completion.

You will be confident in making decisions within project scope, bringing sufficient technical knowledge to hold consultants and contractors accountable for their work. Relationship building and collaboration are core to your success in this role.

You keep the customer front of mind in your interactions and enjoy working as part of a productive team.

To be considered for this role you will have:

  • B Eng, Dip Eng or equivalent.
  • Experience managing roading related projects
  • Broad infrastructure/strategy or asset management experience
  • Procurement and Contract management
  • Project Management
  • Construction Supervision experience
  • Knowledge and experience of NZTA specifications and manuals

An understanding of the working functions and nuances of local government, you will be comfortable with change and ambiguity. It is important that you are able to listen and understand while also being able to think for yourself.
