  • Base salary + benefits + health insurance
  • Varied and active work

About the role:

In this role, you'll be at the forefront of maintaining a safe, welcoming, and well-managed environment across the Tasman District. You'll be responsible for delivering timely and effective enforcement services across a wide range of regulatory functions including dog and animal control, freedom camping, parking enforcement, abandoned vehicles, and dog registrations.

You'll also play an important role in promoting and educating the public on responsible animal ownership and local bylaws, as well as responding professionally and respectfully to customer enquiries and service requests.

About you:

This is a practical, hands-on role where every day brings something new. To succeed, you'll need excellent communication skills, sound judgement and the ability to stay calm and professional when handling a wide range of situations.

You'll bring proven experience in a regulatory, compliance, or similar role, along with a strong understanding of animal behaviour and agricultural environments—particularly when dealing with dog or stock-related matters. Confidence in applying relevant legislation such as the Dog Control Act, Freedom Camping Act, and Transport Act is essential.

Digitally confident and comfortable with Microsoft 365, you're also highly organised and able to work independently or collaboratively as part of a team. With a high level of physical fitness, you're ready to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

This role requires flexibility, adaptability, and a readiness to respond as needed—including availability for after-hours, weekend, and public holiday rostered work.

At Council we offer:

  • A collaborative team environment
  • Flexible working arrangements
  • Ongoing professional development
  • Additional paid time off through our benefits package
