Project Assessment Officer (PIMs and LIMs)

Whangarei District Council

Here at Whangarei District Council we take genuine pride in having one of New Zealand's most welcoming and supportive work environments. Satisfaction comes from knowing we make a difference with the work we do and while our organisation is small enough for independent work to be valued, it's also big enough to make an impact within our community. With a growing population and new developments in our district this is an exciting time to work here.

Our Property Assessment Team are looking for a new team member to provide outstanding service in processing property information such as Residential and Commercial Project Information Memoranda (PIMs), Planning Assessments (PAs), Residential and Commercial Land Information Memoranda (LIMs) and Potential Contaminated Site Searches (PCS).

Working from our purpose built civic facility in Central Whangarei the successful candidate will have a passion for and experience in analysing information, research and investigation combined with the ability to covey sometimes complex information to customers in both a written and oral format.

We'd welcome applications from anyone experienced in a similar role but will also consider candidates with suitable transferrable skills and an interest in reading and interpreting building and district plans and information.

So if you're keen to join our team and are able to demonstrate the following attributes we'd love to hear from you:

  • Ability to read and interpret building plans, and some proficiency in map-reading
  • Experience in a role that required some interpretation and application of policy and legislative requirements
  • Computer literacy including Excel
  • Excellent administration skills, accuracy, and attention to detail
  • A focus on quality results within designated timeframes
  • Ability and desire to work collaboratively within a team environment.

At Whangarei District Council we take our reputation as a lifestyle destination seriously and consider a range of flexible working and work/life balance options for those that want to work in a professional and progressive environment while still having the time to take advantage of everything our district offers.

In addition, our employment package includes Health Insurance, Life Insurance, payment of a professional membership, continuous development opportunities and an active social club plus much more

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the People and Capability team on (09) 430 4200 or 0800 932 463.
