About the role | Mō Te Mahi

Guide our councils communications, helping teams share meaningful stories and ensuring our communities are informed, involved and connected.

  • Provide strategically aligned communications to internal teams and leaders.
  • Lead the development of our communication strategy.
  • Create impactful media releases in response to council decisions, be prepared, engage early with media, ensure clear messaging, use multiple channels, and emphasise community impact.
  • Create and drive internal communications campaigns across digital and print platforms, including email newsletters, Microsoft Teams and intranet updates.
  • Develop and distribute external communications content including website copy, customer and partner email updates, media releases, case studies, and social media content.

About you | Mō Koe

You'll be calm under pressure, highly adaptable and thrive in a collaborative environment where storytelling, strategic thinking, and visual creativity come together.

Ideally you have significant advisory experience in communications, marketing, and/or brand-related roles. Key to your success;

  • A tertiary-level qualification in communications, marketing, journalism or similar.
  • Up to date with communications and marketing trends, and best practice.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to align content with overarching organisation/ Council strategies and communications/marketing themes and goals.
  • Excellent relationship-building, organisational, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Proven ability to manage projects, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality output

You will be confident engaging with senior leaders and diverse kaimahi-staff, able to give sound, strategically aligned advice on internal and external communications and marketing approaches, plus be proactive with independent recommendations and ideas.
