Finance & Payroll Officer

Following an internal promotion, our Financial Services team is seeking a detail-focused and reliable professional to join us as a Finance and Payroll Officer. Based in Dargaville or Mangawhai, this permanent role supports the day-to-day financial operations of Council, with a particular focus on payroll, accounts payable, and treasury functions. This presents a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working across a variety of finance processes and thrives on accuracy, timeliness, and getting the details right.

What you'll be doing:
In this role, you'll be responsible for:
- Processing Council's fortnightly payroll and maintaining accurate employee records
- Reconciling payroll deductions including PAYE, ACC, and KiwiSaver
- Supporting financial processes with daily banking, journal entries, and account reconciliations
- Maintaining contract and purchase order records to support compliance and reporting
- Managing accounts payable, including invoice coding, approvals, and on-time payments

You'll have:
- Proven experience in finance roles, including payroll
- A solid understanding of accounting systems and confidence using Excel
- A high level of accuracy and strong attention to detail

- A team-focused attitude and great communication skills
