Invercargill City Council are seeking an enthusiastic, driven and collaborative individual to join our Planning team on a permanent full-time basis.

What you'll do:

• Provide accurate, professional advice on planning related matters and enquiries seeking input from other Council departments where relevant.
• Check building consent applications to ensure compliance with the planning rules and advise applicants when resource consent is required
• Assess and process resource consent applications against provisions of the District Plan, Resource Management Act and other relevant planning documents
• Provide high quality advice to the community and customers
• Work collaboratively with team members to ensure delivery of environmental and community-appropriate outcomes.

What you'll bring:

• A relevant tertiary qualification in a resource management related field
• 2-5 years' experience in resource management (policy, consents, or similar)
• Knowledge and understanding of the Resource Management Act (RMA) and other relevant legislation
• Report writing skills with the ability to produce clear, well-structured planning documents
• Demonstrated track record of delivering customer-focused services
