Whangarei District Council
Are you a master communicator? Transition easily between tasks and love a fast-paced environment? We are seeking an Administrator - Building Inspections to join our small team to cover a period of parental leave.
About us
Here at Whangarei District Council, we take genuine pride in having one of New Zealand's most welcoming and supportive work environments. We're always on the lookout for community minded, dedicated individuals who get satisfaction from knowing the work they do really makes a difference.
About the role

You'll be involved with the organisation of incoming mail and achieving code of compliance. We have lots of different systems we use, and well-established processes, but each inspection brings its own nuances, so being openminded and flexible would help you succeed.
About you
We're a tight-knit support team looking for someone who's collaborative, reliable, and takes pride in their work. Building knowledge is a bonus, but not essential—we value attitude and team fit above all.
You will also:
- Thrive on the phone and enjoy working in a fast-paced, service-driven environment
- Be a multitasker who can switch gears smoothly throughout the day
- Be keen to learn from our audited procedure manuals and contribute to process improvements
- Have excellent communication skills—both written and verbal
- Be confident on computers and navigating digital systems
- You can manage your own workload and prioritise effectively to meet deadlines
- Familiarity with local geography would be a bonus
