School Development and Family Worker

Mana Ake Kaimahi, School Development and Family Worker, 40 hours/week, fixed term 1 year to cover parental leave.
Mana Ake - Stronger for Tomorrow provides wellbeing/mental health support for children in primary school years 1-8 across Canterbury. Christchurch based, involves some travels around schools.
Kaimahi (workers) support schools, families and whānau when children are experiencing issues that impact their wellbeing such as managing emotions, friendships and bullying, parental separation and grief and loss.
Kaimahi have a diverse range of skills and backgrounds, including: psychologists, social workers, counsellors, teachers and youth workers. You will work with individual children, their caregivers as well as groups of children to deliver social-emotional education programmes. Mana Ake can also support schools with local projects, such as attendance and staff professional development.
The ability to work with a variety of cultures, including Māori and Pacifica is essential and all Stand Tū Māia staff are expected to demonstrate a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi
The ideal candidate will have:
- A talent for connecting with and empowering groups and communities, from tamariki to whānau and teachers
- Team spirit that thrives on collaboration across a cluster of schools
- Professional registration: Social Work, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Counselling, Allied Health, or Teaching
- Competency in IT, databases and case management systems
- Confidence to shine both independently and as a part of a diverse team
