About the role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Legal Advisor to join our dynamic team. This role offers the opportunity to use your legal skills and knowledge to make a meaningful impact on the district.

As a Senior Legal Advisor you will provide expert legal advice across a broad range of areas including local government law, environmental and resource management, public and administrative law, dispute resolution, litigation, commercial, contract and procurement matters, property law and a whole host of other challenging issues that fall within Council's functions. It is never a dull day in local government!

The full annual starting salaries are indicated below noting there is an opportunity to progress beyond these as your experience at Council grows.

• Principal Advisor; $130,082 - $144,536 + benefits
• Senior Legal Advisor; $112,718 - $125,243 + benefits

Renumeration will be based on skills and experience.

About you:

As a qualified and experienced lawyer, you will have exceptional problem-solving skills alongside excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Your ability to work effectively under pressure to apply initiative and good judgement and prioritize tasks efficiently will be key. Additionally, your ability to provide comprehensive and timely legal advice with an understanding of broader implications is essential.

We are especially interested in hearing from applicants with a strong background in Local Government, the Resource Management Act or property law.

You must be an experienced legal professional and be eligible to hold a practicing certificate.
