• Fixed Term for 3 months, (32 hours per week)

About the role:

Must have the ability to work during weekends, late evenings and statutory holidays.

In this role you'll help make our waterways safe by delivering engaging, community-based maritime education and outreach activities across the Tasman District. You'll play a key part in promoting safe boating practices and encouraging positive behaviour change though direct engagement with recreational boaties, schools, iwi and community groups.

You'll also support the Harbourmaster Office in implementing programmes, including public education, on-water engagement, assisting with coastal marine monitoring and help track vessel traffic movements.

About you:

We are looking for someone who brings at least one year's experience in a marine-related industry or formal maritime training (minimum level 3). You'll have experience in education, community engagement or maritime safety along with a good understanding of recreational boating safety, local waterways and Maritime NZ's Safer Boating campaign messages. You'll also be an excellent communicator and confident public speaker who can easily engage with a wide range of people.

You'll be physically fit to support both on water and community based activities. A current full drivers' license and first aid certificate is required.
