Engineering Officer - Coastal Assets

We currently have an opportunity for someone who is experienced and passionate about the upkeep, development and maintenance of coastal assets to join our dedicated Parks Team in this newly created role.
About Us
Our Parks Team is committed to delivering quality outcomes for our community - providing investigation, design and construction of Parks Infrastructure Assets. We service our district open spaces stretching from Bland Bay in the north to Langs Beach in the south and from Waiotira in the west to Urquharts Bay in the east.

About the Role
Acting as the Business Owner for Coastal Assets you'll take on the responsibility for the maintenance and operations of assets such as boat ramps, jetties, pontoons, stairs, wharves and sea defences. Working with the wider team to develop coastal strategies and implement a range of solutions to enhance long-term resilience you will also need to develop sustainable relationships with Hapū and communities within coastal areas to ensure effective engagement and collaboration.
What You'll Bring
If this sounds like an opportunity you'd like to explore further we're looking for applications from candidates able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
- Tertiary level qualification in Civil Engineering, Science or equivalent.
- 5 years post-qualification work experience in coastal engineering, coastal hazard management and coastal construction works.
- Strong understanding of coastal engineering design standards and specifications.
- Strong communication and negotiating skills.
- Ability to build strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Highly effective time management and prioritisation skills.
- Self motivated and capable of working independently.
- Ability and desire to work in a way that is consistent with our organisational tikanga.
