Council Land Occupancy Coordinator (22.5 hours per week)

We currently have a part-time (22.5 hours per week) opportunity for someone who is passionate about serving our community and experienced in the coordination of key stakeholders to join our dedicated Parks Team in this newly created role.
About Us
Our Parks Team is committed to delivering quality outcomes for our community - providing investigation, design and construction of Parks Infrastructure Assets. We service our district open spaces stretching from Bland Bay in the north to Langs Beach in the south and from Waiotira in the west to Urquharts Bay in the east.

About the Role
Serving as the primary point of contact within Council to ensure issues arising from homelessness and unauthorised occupation of public land are being effectively coordinated across the organization; helping maintain community safety and ensuring that Council land is able to be used effectively. To be successful in the role you will also need to develop sustainable relationships with Hapū and key stakeholders within our community to ensure effective engagement and collaboration.
What You'll Bring

- Relevant tertiary level qualification in social sciences or related discipline.
- Strong project management skills with a demonstrated ability to coordinate efforts towards achievement of long-term goals.
- Ability to form highly effective, collaborative working relationships with key stakeholders.
- Understanding of local government processes.
- Ability to interpret legislation and identify pragmatic application options.
- Ability to effectively facilitate and mediate between the operational side of Council and community.
- Excellent ability to assess and proactively manage risk.
- Highly adept at de-escalating emotive situations.
- Ability and desire to work in a way that is consistent with our organisational tikanga.
