Workshop Supervisor

To support the needs of existing and future workload, we are seeking for a qualified workshop supervisor to join our New Plymouth team. This role is central to the success of our mechanical team, providing leadership to Foremen, Leading Hands, Trades Staff, and Apprentices, while working closely with internal teams across Engineering, QA, Project Management, Purchasing, and Administration.
If you are an experienced leader in heavy fabrication who thrives in a fast‑paced project environment with solid experience in plate rolling and vessel building experience, we would love to hear from you! The role will oversee workshop activities ensuring safe, efficient, and high‑quality delivery across designated projects.
About the Role
The primary objective of this position is to coordinate and supervise all work on assigned projects, ensuring designated projects are completed safely, on time, within manpower allocations, to the required quality standards, company policies and procedures. You'll be a key driver of productivity, team performance, and operational excellence.
We're looking for a team player with:
- 8 years in heavy engineering / fabrication with minimum 2 years supervisory role
- Strong commercial focus and able to track and monitor performance versus cost
- In depth knowledge of reading and interpreting structural, vessel and piping drawings
- Knowledge of welding fabrication codes
- Proven ability to run large, multi-disciplined teams
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Completion of Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent
- (Desired) HSE training in JHA's, incident investigation, working at heights, confined space working etc.

Pre-Employment Requisites
- Able to pass Drug and Alcohol Screening along with a Pre-Employment Medical
- The legal entitlement to work in New Zealand
