About the role - This is a casual on call position. To ensure our Customer Service Team can meet its commitments and deliver agreed levels of service, the key purpose of this position is to give exemplary customer service by dealing with district wide customer telephone enquiries, transactions, orders, and complaints on behalf of Council in a respectful, prompt and efficient manner. Our vision is Excellent service, every customer, every time!
There may be occasions when you will be required to work school holidays and the hours can be anything from 2-8 hours in a day.
Do you have what it takes?
This is a busy role and if you want plenty of variety, this role has it all from greeting customers, daily receipting of Council's revenue eg rates, dog registrations and green waste stickers, booking of Council facilities eg halls and billboards, cemetery queries, booking of interments, updating of records and booking of inspections for our Building Control Officers. You will also maintain Customer Requests by liaising with internal and external customers, directing staff and contractors on the phone and face to face, to enable resolution of a request.
This role will enable you to build up an extensive knowledge base of all Council activities.
About You - You will be a proactive and collaborative team player with the ability to multi‑task and deliver exceptional customer service. You will bring strong listening skills, remain calm under pressure, and confidently navigate a wide range of service enquiries to support our customers effectively. You will also have well‑developed computer skills, a genuine passion for helping others, and the flexibility to work at short notice when required.
