About the Role - This position has an emphasis on administering the Council's property portfolio in accordance with legal and statutory requirements, Council policies and plans and advise Council on requirements, maximising the income potential of leased properties and managing the use of Council land for community benefit. This role will also deliver a range of services to other units including managing processes for easements, acquisitions and disposals.

Do you have what it takes? - This is a fast‑paced and varied role where no two days are the same. You'll ensure all property transactions, leases and licences comply with legislation and Council policies, while reviewing and advising on documentation and clauses.

You'll also lead the negotiation, coordination, acquisition and disposal of Council‑owned and administered property under key legislation such as the Reserves Act 1977, Local Government Act and Public Works Act 1981. The role includes preparing and presenting reports, negotiating and drafting leases and licences for a range of users, and managing tender documents and processes for leased properties.

About You - You bring strong experience in lease management and relevant legislation, ideally within Local Government and a confident, can‑do attitude. You are skilled at building relationships, communicating clearly with a wide range of stakeholders, enjoy tackling new challenges, using your technical expertise to navigate complex situations and achieving great outcomes. Knowledge of key legislation such as the Reserves Act, Property Law Act, Residential Tenancies Act, Public Works Act and Local Government Act will be an advantage.

Applicants for this position must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand, therefore must have NZ residency or hold a valid NZ work visa. In terms of residence class visa applications, priority will be given where the applicant is in New Zealand.

The salary range for this position is between $83,430pa and $92,700pa and the appointed starting level will be dependent on skills and experience and will be discussed during interviews with shortlisted candidates. Full-Time - 40 hours per week/
