Whangārei District Council are seeking passionate and experienced individuals to join the board of Whangārei District Holdings Limited (WDHL) - a new Council Controlled Trading Organisation (CCTO). WDHL has been created to proactively manage the development of Council-owned property where there are commercial or strategic opportunities.

With the establishment phase now complete Council is seeking up to five passionate and experienced individuals to lend their skills and expertise to this exciting opportunity. The new board will set the vision and long-term goals for the WDHL, developing strategies to achieve them and acting commercially to deliver sustainable returns.

We are looking for directors that have a mix of the following skills:

• Proven governance experience
• Strong financial insight and management expertise
• Commercial property development and portfolio management expertise
• Cultural awareness
• Risk awareness
• Accountability and transparency

Successful candidates will be appointed for a term of up to three years (Director appointments may be staged in order to ensure continuity of the Board), attending regular Board meetings in Whangārei.

While the workload will vary, it is envisioned that each Director would attend monthly Board meetings of approximately 2 hours in duration, with an additional 2 - 4 hours per week associated with the role. However, additional time may be required as the new Board establishes and sets the direction of WDHL.
