Are you ready to take the next step in your compliance career and lead a team making a real difference for our environment and community? We're looking for a confident, collaborative leader to join us as our Team Leader - Compliance & Investigation (Land and Air).

About the role

Based in our main offices in Richmond, you'll lead a dedicated team responsible for delivering Council's resource management compliance monitoring programme and customer complaint service. Your leadership will guide and support staff through professional development, mentoring, and day‑to‑day motivation.

You'll play a key role in enforcing crucial environmental regulations and will work closely with the Team Leader - Compliance & Investigation (Water and Waste) as a trusted authority on consent compliance and enforcement under the RMA and LGA.

You'll also help navigate the sometimes competing expectations of our community - finding solutions that balance regulatory requirements with best‑practice environmental management.

About you

You will bring a professional approach, excellent communication skills, and a genuine commitment to delivering great customer service. You are confident interpreting a wide range of environmental statutes and navigating complex issues with a pragmatic mindset. A background in RMA compliance monitoring and enforcement will be an advantage.

You will ideally have experience managing or mentoring others, along with a tertiary qualification in resource management, environmental science, or a related field. Most importantly, you'll be someone who builds strong relationships, leads with integrity, and thrives in a role that offers variety, purpose, and the opportunity to make a real impact.

What's in it for you

We're proud to offer a comprehensive benefits package, including:

  • Additional leave options
  • Increased KiwiSaver contributions
  • A cash allowance
  • Health insurance
  • A paid day off on your birthday
  • Ongoing professional development
  • Discounted gym memberships
  • A range of wellbeing initiatives

And of course - there's the lifestyle. The Tasman District's warm climate, stunning coastline, and three nearby national parks create the perfect backdrop for those who value work-life balance and the outdoors.

Great communities are built by great people - and that could be you. Join us and be part of something meaningful.
