We're currently seeking for an experienced Civil Engineer to lead the team responsible for delivering transportation projects across our network.

About the role:

This role reports to the Manager - Transportation, focusing on leading the delivery of transportation projects ensuring LTP outcomes are met.

Based with the team in our newly built office in Whangarei CBD as the successful candidate you will be responsible for:

• Deliver projects as per the LTP and WDC asset/activity management plans.
• Support the setting, monitoring and achievement of performance measures in the Annual Plan/LTP.
• Ensure capital works projects are designed, specified, managed (including effective stakeholder and customer relations), monitored and reported on.
• Manage procurement process, ensuring standards are met and provide technical guidance and support.
• Meet the financial targets agreed in consultation with the Manager - Transportation and achieve best value for money.
• Continually monitor and improve systems, methods, efficiency and the quality of services provided to customers.
• Create a team environment that fosters and develops effective working relationships, high performance and service of the highest quality.

About you:

We are looking for someone to join the team who brings a tertiary qualification in civil engineering, extensive experience in transportation project delivery and an understanding of NZTA standards, guidelines and funding.

In addition to your technical knowledge, you will be confident leading others and forming relationships easily with both internal and external stakeholders. You'll have an existing understanding of public body procurement requirements.
