Compliance & Investigations Officer

Tasman District Council

Join us in protecting one of Aotearoa's most stunning regions.

We're offering a permanent, full‑time opportunity based in beautiful Tasman - home to coastline, sunshine, and three national parks right on your doorstep.

Why You'll Love Working With Us:

  • Competitive salary - we recognise and value the expertise you bring
  • Flexible benefits package - personalise your benefits package to suit your lifestyle
  • Blend of office and field work - enjoy variety and autonomy in your day
  • Continuous learning and development, supporting your growth and future career
  • A wide range of perks, including a paid day-off on your birthday, health insurance and discounted gym memberships
  • Relocation package available if you're moving to the region

About the Role

This is a hands-on role implementing, managing and reporting on designated compliance monitoring programmes associated with land, air and water throughout the Tasman region. You will be working alongside a small, dedicated team protecting our environment.

You'll help ensure the Tasman Resource Management Plan (TRMP) and relevant environmental legislation are followed—making a tangible difference every single day.

About You

You'll bring:

  • Practical experience within compliance or a related regulatory environment
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, matched with a pragmatic, solution‑focused approach
  • Sound understanding of relevant statutes and environmental regulations, with the ability to interpret and apply them confidently
  • A tertiary qualification in resource management or environmental science (an advantage, not a requirement).
  • If you're someone who thrives on variety, enjoys collaborative problem‑solving, and is passionate about protecting natural environments, this role could be your next step.

Why Tasman?

Tasman is a remarkable place to live and work—the sunny climate, coastline, and access to outdoor adventure make it a region where lifestyle and work-life balance come naturally.
