About the Role
Stratford District Council is recruiting for a Project Engineer - 3 Waters to join the team.
In this role, you will plan and deliver 3 Waters and special projects that contribute directly to the improvement of essential community infrastructure. You will oversee project scoping, procurement, construction and reporting, ensuring all work is completed safely, on time and within budget. The role also involves engaging with stakeholders, including Iwi, supporting asset management planning, and contributing to the ongoing development of high quality water services for the Stratford District.
This position is full time (40 hours per week), based at the Stratford District Council, Miranda Street, Stratford. The salary range for this position is $93,000 to $104,000 per annum, with the starting rate based on the skills and experience of the successful candidate.

About You
You will have a relevant tertiary qualification in engineering and strong experience in local government project delivery, particularly in 3 Waters or asset management. You will be confident managing capital works programmes from planning through to completion, balancing timelines, budgets and quality requirements while ensuring compliance with procurement and financial standards.
You have excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues, contractors, consultants and community stakeholders. You enjoy working collaboratively, can analyse and interpret asset data, and take pride in delivering work that supports the long term wellbeing of the district. An understanding of New Zealand Standards, 3 Waters legislation and Council processes will be essential for success in this role.
