Senior Lifeguard

South Taranaki District Council

Are you a proactive, hands‑on go‑getter with a passion for creating safe, fun, high‑quality aquatic experiences? We're searching for an energetic, community‑minded Senior Lifeguard to join our Aquatic Services Team in this important frontline role.

About our District - Our mission is to make our communities better and this role will play a key part in achieving this. We are located in a tranquil area of New Zealand offering some of the best access to the great outdoors. We also boast attractive housing prices for your town, village or rural lifestyle and we are within commuting distance to larger centres.

About our Organisation - STDC is a progressive, values‑driven organisation with a strong culture and a genuine "can‑do" spirit. We back our people, encourage innovation, and champion professional development. You'll enjoy a proven "best place to work" environment, flexible options, a sick‑leave bank, and a retention incentive after four years.

About the Role - As a Senior Lifeguard, you will help deliver the smooth and safe operation of a modern aquatic recreation centre. This includes reception work, poolside supervision and duties, teaching learn to swim and aquafit, lifeguard training, general cleaning and facility maintenance, water testing and plant operations. No two days are the same — this is a role for someone who thrives in a dynamic, community‑focused environment.

Do you have what it takes?

If you excel at customer service, are passionate about helping people enjoy a great aquatic experience, know your way around pools and lead by good example then we want to hear from you.
