Foreperson Drainage and/or Reticulation

Whitestone Contracting Ltd (WCL) is seeking an experienced Drainage and/or Reticulation Foreperson to join our growing Central Otago civil team, based from our Alexandra depot.
This is a hands-on leadership role delivering complex drainage and three-waters works across Alexandra, Clyde, Cromwell, Wanaka and Queenstown, with a strong and secure pipeline of work ahead.
The Role
As a Foreperson, you will take ownership of on-site delivery for drainage and reticulation projects, leading crews from the front and working closely with our Operations Manager and Regional Manager.
This role has become available due to strategic growth, and offers genuine variety, responsibility, and long-term opportunity within a tight‑knit, highly capable team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and supervising drainage and reticulation crews on site
- Planning daily works, allocating labour and plant, and managing productivity
- Reading and interpreting plans, specifications and set out information
- Ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to specification
- Managing quality, environmental and H&S requirements on site
- Liaising with engineers, project managers, subcontractors and clients
- Mentoring and developing crew members
- Contributing practical input into tendering, planning and programme development
What We're Looking For
We are looking for an experienced, practical leader with a strong background in civil drainage and three-waters work.
You will ideally bring:
- 3-5+ years' experience in a Foreperson role (leading hand experience considered)
- Drain laying and/or Three Waters reticulation qualifications
(WCL will support the right candidate to gain any missing qualification) - Strong experience across stormwater, sewer and watermain works
- Ability to confidently read and work from civil construction drawings
- A proactive approach to safety, quality and team leadership
- WTR endorsements
- Class 1, 2 and 4 NZ driver licences

Location
This role is based from our Alexandra depot.
Ideally, applicants will live within the Central Otago region (Alexandra, Clyde, Cromwell), however Wanaka or Queenstown‑based candidates will also be considered.
