Kaipara District Council
Kaipara District Council is seeking two reliable, customer focused Library Casuals to support services at our Dargaville library.
This role supports day-to-day library operations and provides frontline customer service across a range of library services and systems.
About the role
Located at our Dargaville Library our working hours include Monday to Friday 9.00 am to 5 pm, (with Thursdays until 6pm) and Saturday 9.15 am to 12.45 pm. These casual opportunities are to accommodate various shifts that may arise during these times, such as staff absences or busy periods like school holidays.
You'll be connecting customers with library collections and services, helping to organise resources, and be a key part of creating a welcoming space for all. Using technology and assisting customers with digital resources.
Key responsibilities include:
- Connecting customers to physical and digital resources.
- Assisting with queries and information requests.
- Organising collections, conducting shelving, shelf checks, assisting with stock maintenance.
- Supporting the maintenance of membership, circulation and reserve systems.
- Assisting with programmes, events and engaging displays.
About you
We are looking for applicants who demonstrate a strong commitment to providing excellent service and can easily connect with people from all walks of life. A professional customer-first attitude is essential, coupled with the ability to create meaningful interactions that leave a lasting impact. You'll be a can-do person, confident using technology, troubleshooting and connecting with the digital world.
In addition, you will have:
- The proven ability to handle various information requests and situations
- Computer and web proficiency, including Microsoft Word and Excel
- Effective time management and a proven ability to work to deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- 1-2 years' experience in a library or customer service environment, as well as a library qualification or equivalent experience, would be advantageous
