Our organisation is small enough for independent work to be valued, and big enough to make an impact within our community and we're always on the lookout for community minded, dedicated individuals who get satisfaction from knowing the work they do really makes a difference.

Working in our purpose-built facility in central Whangārei we are looking for an ITS Signals Engineer to work within a supportive team ensuring the effective operation of our Intelligent Transport System (ITS) including the Traffic Signals Network and mechanical bridge control systems.

What you will do:

  • Work collaboratively with internal teams, contractors and stakeholders
  • Monitor and manage traffic signal systems to keep networks running safely and efficiently
  • Identify, investigate and resolve faults or performance issues
  • Support incident response to minimise disruption and restore services quickly
  • Analyse traffic and system data to support optimisation and improvements

We value transferable skills and welcome applicants from a range of backgrounds. If you're a problem solver with a keen eye for detail, qualified and experienced in technology or systems, with a willingness to learn, we can support you to succeed in this role.

You will need to be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering / Information Sciences or equivalent
  • Familiarity with Industry Traffic Signals practice or other transferable experience
  • Knowledge of H&S and safe working requirements in the road corridor
  • Understanding of Asset Management Systems - Road Asset Maintenance Management - AWM formerly RAMM

  • High level of computer literacy
  • Capable of communicating complex information with a range of stakeholders
