Resource Recovery & Waste Contract Supervisor

About the role:
We are looking for an experienced Contract Supervisor to join our Resource Recovery & Waste team. Reporting to the Resource Recovery & Waste Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring Selwyn's resource recovery and waste services are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard for our community. This is a varied role where you'll work closely with contractors, stakeholders, and Council teams to oversee service delivery, drive performance, and support strategic waste minimisation objectives.
- Lead the day-to-day management of the Pines Resource Recovery Park Operations Contract and Kerbside Collections Contract
- Monitor contractor performance, compliance, health and safety, and environmental standards
- Manage service requests and ensure timely resolution of customer and operational issues
- Maintain strong working relationships with contractors and key stakeholders
- Support the delivery of projects, budgeting, planning, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives across the Resource Recovery & Waste function
About you:
You are a driven and organised professional with strong relationship management and problem-solving skills. You enjoy working collaboratively, delivering results, and finding practical solutions. Customer-focused and committed to continuous improvement, you take pride in making a meaningful contribution to your community.
You will also have:
- Significant experience in contract management, ideally within local government, infrastructure, utilities, or a contractor environment
- Strong project management and contractor performance management skills
- Experience analysing, interpreting, and presenting operational data
- Proven ability to resolve issues and manage competing priorities effectively
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and relationship management skills
- A relevant tertiary qualification and a full New Zealand driver's licence, with waste and resource recovery sector experience highly regarded
