About the Role - This is an exciting opportunity to lead the delivery, maintenance and compliance of one of Council's most diverse and visible asset portfolios.
As Property & Facilities Team Leader, you will provide leadership to a skilled team responsible for Council's property and facilities assets, including:
- Community halls and public buildings
- Campgrounds and recreational facilities
- Public toilets and amenities
- Cemeteries and associated infrastructure
- Housing for the Elderly
- Council-owned property and lease portfolios
You'll be responsible for ensuring these assets remain safe, compliant and fit for purpose while delivering excellent outcomes for our communities.
Working with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, you'll lead operational planning, maintenance programmes, contract management, and continuous improvement initiatives across the portfolio.
This role combines people leadership, asset stewardship, operational delivery and strategic thinking, making it ideal for someone who enjoys both hands-on problem solving and leading teams to succeed.
What you'll bring:
- Experience leading teams in property, facilities, asset management or a related field
- Strong contract and contractor management experience
- Knowledge of building compliance, health and safety requirements and legislative obligations
- The ability to manage competing priorities across a diverse portfolio
- Sound financial and budget management skills
- Excellent stakeholder relationship and communication skills
- A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement
Local government experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
Most importantly, you'll be someone who takes ownership, leads by example, and is passionate about your work.
Applicants for this position must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand, therefore must have NZ residency or hold a valid NZ work visa. In terms of residence class visa applications, priority will be given where the applicant is in New Zealand.
The salary range for this position is from $91,440 to $101,600 with the starting salary to be determined based on the successful candidate's skills and experience. This will be discussed with shortlisted applicants during the interview process.
