Festival and Community Events Coordinator

About the Role

Working as part of our Festivals and Events team and reporting to the Festival and Community Events Lead, you will play a vital role in coordinating the successful delivery of community events and festivals across the district.
Your key responsibilities will be:
- Coordinating the planning and delivery of Council-led community events and festivals.
- Supporting the delivery of the Mayoral events programme and other civic events.
- Building strong relationships with community groups, event organisers, sponsors, and other stakeholders.
- Providing operational support for Council-sponsored community events and festivals.
- Coordinating applications, licenses, approvals, and temporary road closures for events held on Council-owned land.
- Managing event information, stakeholder databases, and promotional collateral, including support for the Love it Here and Experience Local initiatives.
- Monitoring event expenditure, processing purchase orders, and supporting accurate reporting.
About You
You are an experienced, proactive, and collaborative events professional who is passionate about community connection and the vital role events and festivals play in fostering community pride and belonging.
You enjoy working alongside community groups, guiding them through council processes, and building strong stakeholder relationships. Driven to deliver successful outcomes, you bring strong project management skills and a hands-on approach to executing events from concept through to completion, ensuring memorable and positive experiences for the community.
To be well set up for success in this role - you will have:
- A relevant Level 5 qualification or equivalent experience.
- At least three years' experience in event coordination, event operations, or a similar role.
- Knowledge of event planning and delivery best practices.
- An understanding of health and safety requirements within event environments.
- Strong relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Well-developed administration and coordination capabilities.
- A positive, solution-focused mindset and a passion for community outcomes.
