Company Manager

Tranzit Group

About Us

Tranzit is New Zealand's largest family-owned transport and tourism company, operating across Aotearoa. Having recently celebrated our centenary, we are proud of our reputation as pioneers and innovators in the bus and coach industry, and of the role we play in keeping Kiwi communities connected through safe, reliable and high-quality transport services.

We are seeking an experienced Company Manager to lead our Taranaki business. Based in New Plymouth, the operation delivers school, charter, tours and public transport services across the region, including New Plymouth, Waitara, Inglewood, Oakura, Opunake, Hawera and Stratford.

Tranzit Coachlines Taranaki is part of Tranzit Group's CIT Division, covering Coachlines, InterCity and Tourism. In partnership with Taranaki Regional Council, we introduced a fleet of 11 electric buses in April 2026, supporting a more sustainable public transport network for the Taranaki community.

About You

You are a commercially astute operational leader who understands the importance of safe, reliable service delivery, strong customer outcomes and genuine care for people. You may come from transport, logistics, tourism, infrastructure or another complex service environment, and bring the confidence to lead a busy operation with structure, sound judgement and heart.

About the Role

This is a hands-on business leadership role with a strategic lens. You will lead a frontline team of more than 80 drivers across school, charter, tours and public transport services, supported by local operational, training and health and safety capability, as well as the wider CIT support network. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead our Taranaki business with a strong people-first safety culture, ensuring safe, reliable and high-quality day-to-day service delivery.
  • Own business performance across safety, people, customer experience, operations, financials, KPIs and P&L.
  • Lead local business planning, budgeting and execution of key priorities.
  • Build strong client, stakeholder and community relationships.
  • Drive commercial and operational performance through planning and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure strong governance, compliance, employment relations and health and safety practices.
  • Translate CIT objectives and strategic projects into practical local execution.
  • Provide visible, practical and supportive leadership to over 80 drivers, local operational support, training and health and safety representatives.

To be successful in this position, you will need:

  • Proven experience leading and developing operational teams, ideally in transport, logistics, tourism, infrastructure or another complex service delivery environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships with clients, stakeholders and teams.
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen, with practical problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent planning, organisational and time-management skills.
  • A results-driven and customer-focused approach, with a strong focus on quality, efficiency and continuous improvement.
  • A supportive leadership style, with genuine care for people and an understanding of the importance of frontline teams in delivering great customer outcomes.
  • A clean full licence held for at least two years, with the ability to gain a Passenger Endorsement.
  • Previous experience within the transport industry would be an advantage.
