About Technopak

Technopak specialises in the design, manufacture and installation of high-hygiene packaging machinery for the global dairy industry.

Our machines are designed and built at our East Tāmaki facility before being installed throughout New Zealand and overseas. Because everything happens on site, you'll work alongside experienced professionals across mechanical, electrical and controls engineering and see how each part of the machine comes together.

We're growing and now need an experienced Workshop Fitter to join our team, and this is where you fit in!

The role

This is hands-on, practical work for someone who enjoys building machinery properly and seeing a finished result.

Each morning starts with a toolbox meeting before you receive your allocated build kit. Some assemblies may take a day, while larger builds could keep you occupied for the week. The work is structured, but you'll still need to manage your time, work independently and meet agreed deadlines.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Building and assembling machinery for high-hygiene applications
• Working from technical drawings and 3D models
• Building and fault-finding pneumatic systems
• Completing basic fabrication and machining when required
• Supporting equipment installation, commissioning, maintenance and servicing

You'll also help train apprentices and share your knowledge with less experienced team members.

Who this would suit

We're looking for a trade-qualified Fitter who has spent time working on industrial equipment and knows how to do the basics well.

You'll be practical, reliable and comfortable getting on with the job without constant supervision. You'll listen, be open to Technopak's way of working and contribute as part of the wider team. We value experience, but we also value people who are willing to learn and lend a hand when something sits outside their usual area.

A background in site-based work would be particularly useful, as this role includes travel for shutdowns, installations and servicing. Travel is seasonal and generally busiest between May and August. You may be away for a week at a time and, during busier periods, potentially two to three weeks.

To succeed in this role, you'll bring:

• A Level 4 Mechanical Engineering qualification or equivalent trade qualification
• At least five years' post-trade fitting experience
• Experience assembling industrial machinery or mechanical equipment
• The ability to read and work accurately from technical drawings and 3D models
• Experience with pneumatic systems and fault-finding
• Basic fabrication and machining skills
• A clean driver licence and current passport
• New Zealand citizenship or permanent residency
• The flexibility to travel throughout New Zealand and internationally
