About the Role:
At Selwyn District Council, we're offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated student to join our Asset Management Team as a Student Data Support Analyst. This role is designed to provide valuable hands-on experience working with infrastructure data, business systems, reporting tools, and asset management practices.
This is more than just a student job. It's an opportunity to build practical experience, develop your technical skills, and gain exposure to local government and infrastructure asset management while working alongside experienced professionals. This role is 15 hours per week for six months
What you'll be doing
- Maintaining and improving asset data quality across multiple systems
- Assisting with data collection, validation, and analysis
- Supporting asset management software and data tools
- Creating reports, dashboards, and data visualisations
- Helping identify opportunities to improve processes and systems
- Working with teams across Council to ensure accurate, reliable information is available for decision-making
About You:
We're keen to hear from students who:
- Are currently studying towards a qualification in Data Science, Information Technology, Engineering, GIS, Asset Management, Analytics, or a related discipline
- Have completed at least their first year of tertiary study
- Enjoy working with data and solving problems
- Have strong attention to detail and a passion for accuracy
- Are confident using technology and Microsoft Excel
- Communicate well with both technical and non-technical people
- Are curious, eager to learn, and enjoy working collaboratively
